No Crossplay or Enhancements for Existing Players

No Crossplay or Upgrades Announced for Last Round

Recent discussions hinted that the Dead or Alive series might reignite its flame, but new details from Koei Tecmo reveal a mixed bag of news for fans of the franchise.

In a recent announcement, the gaming company detailed information regarding the eagerly anticipated title, Dead or Alive 6: Last Round. The official website was revamped to inform fans about the transition from the previous title to this enhanced edition launching this summer.

For players hoping to carry over their investments from the original game, there are some perks, such as transferring DLC costumes, gameplay progression, and a variety of unlocked items like accessories and character customizations. Yet, not everything will make the jump; certain DLC, specifically Premium Tickets and hair color adjustments, will not carry over into Last Round.

Moreover, the official product page clarifies that crossplay will not be an option, and the new iteration will only be available in digital format.

Ever a point of contention in the gaming community, the request for rollback netcode—technology many enthusiasts believe enhances online performance—remains unanswered, much to the disappointment of loyal followers.

Speculation from Koei Tecmo’s support team indicates that Last Round will not be offered as a free update or discounted option for those who already own Dead or Alive 6.

This means that players will need to purchase the updated title separately.

Concerning characters, fan favorites will not make an appearance in Last Round, down from 31 to 29 characters, which includes content previously released. Nevertheless, the game will feature all previous DLC characters released prior to this, ensuring several options remain for players.

A Core Fighters version of Last Round will also roll out at launch, granting free access to characters like Kasumi, Marie Rose, Honoka, and NiCO.

Koei Tecmo has indicated that post-launch updates will introduce additional characters and costumes, hinting at an evolving experience. The release of Dead or Alive 6: Last Round is set for June 25, 2026, available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam.
