SINGAPORE – The LumiHealth initiative, a collaborative health program created by Apple in partnership with the Health Promotion Board (HPB), will conclude on May 31. Users are now being directed to transition to the Healthy 365 application for continued health management.
Introduced in October 2020, LumiHealth aimed to foster better health among Singaporeans through personalized support in various lifestyle aspects, including physical fitness, nutrition, sleep quality, and mental wellness. It featured engaging challenges where participants could earn virtual coins for completing activities, which could then be exchanged for rewards.
Since its inception, the free app has attracted more than 377,000 users, as reported by HPB on February 3.
Participants will still have access to LumiHealth features until March 31, with all earned coins needing to be redeemed by April 30. E-vouchers obtained through these coins must be utilized before they expire, or by May 31, whichever arrives first.
Users are encouraged to download HPB’s Healthy 365 app to monitor their health journeys in a similar way. This transition can occur immediately, allowing individuals to engage with Healthy 365 while finishing any outstanding LumiHealth tasks. The Healthy 365 app is currently used by roughly 885,000 residents monthly, accounting for about 25% of the adult population in Singapore.
According to HPB, Healthy 365 offers a suite of programs and resources, including tailored advice and interactive content to help individuals establish healthy habits.
The app features options for free fitness classes and wellness workshops alongside capabilities to log sleep, meals, and personal goals while participating in challenges.
LumiHealth capitalizes on the functionality of iPhones and Apple Watches, employing features like heart rate and sleep tracking to gradually enhance users’ exercise levels and improve their mental health.
Individuals with previously low activity levels saw an increase of about 54% in their weekly exercise minutes after engaging with LumiHealth.
Moreover, 86% of users participated in multi-week structured quests designed to cultivate enduring healthy habits and meet specific health goals such as improved strength and better sleep.
An evaluation conducted by HPB and Swiss Re highlighted that maintaining enhanced physical activity into older age could potentially reduce overall mortality rates by 3% to 13% across various groups within the LumiHealth participant pool.
