The much-anticipated arrival of *The Disney Afternoon Collection* on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 is set for February 26, 2026. This release comes nearly ten years after its initial launch, igniting excitement among fans who have long wished for its inclusion on Nintendo platforms. Digital Eclipse has managed to bring this nostalgic collection back to life, much to the delight of gamers everywhere.
First off, can you share how this release came to fruition, considering the long wait since 2017? Nintendo enthusiasts are buzzing with anticipation!
This has been a dream of ours at Digital Eclipse for quite some time. We have consistently discussed bringing *The Disney Afternoon Collection* to Nintendo platforms. It has an everlasting charm, and its appeal seems to have grown since the original launch. Witnessing the enthusiasm for the release is rewarding and justifies all our efforts!
Curiously, how did Atari become a part of this release, especially since Capcom was the original publisher? Can you explain why the new games are exclusive to the Nintendo portfolio?
We collaborated directly with Disney to secure licensing for the games on the Switch platforms. Capcom retains the publishing rights to earlier versions, which is why our new content is exclusive to this refreshed edition.
What has it been like revisiting this classic collection after so many years?
I’ve enjoyed the collection as a fan and remember being particularly impressed by the Gallery sections. The depth of research and intriguing context provided was reminiscent of visiting a museum exhibit, setting a standard for retro collections.
Can you elaborate on the choice to include the new games, *Goof Troop* and *Bonkers*?
These two titles were natural choices, as they are based on cartoons that aired during the Disney Afternoon and share the same development lineage under Capcom.
Was this selection always the plan, or were other titles considered?
This was indeed our initial plan. The alignment of these games was quite straightforward.
Is there any intention to expand the collection further with updates or additional games in the future?
At present, we don’t have plans to incorporate more games.
Will the Nintendo Switch 2 leverage features like GameShare?
Unfortunately, the Switch 2 version won’t support GameShare.
As collections on Nintendo Switch 2 continue, do you have thoughts on the occasional mixed reviews regarding game key cards?
We’ve received positive feedback about traditional key cards, and we’re pleased to confirm that *The Disney Afternoon Collection* will indeed be available on a standard key card for its Switch 2 release.
With the success of retro collections, how can a compilation remain relevant today, rather than serving as just another re-release?
This question strikes at the core of our mission. We believe that classic games deserve respect. Our approach aims not only to reintroduce these classics but to provide context that helps new players understand their significance.
*The Disney Afternoon Collection* is launching on both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on February 26, 2026.
