Bungie Announces Conclusion of Destiny 2 Development with Final Update Next Month

Bungie will cease active development of Destiny 2 after more than eight years since its debut. The release date for the game’s last content update is confirmed, hinting at an enigmatic future for the Destiny universe.

The final content update is set to roll out on June 9, while the game will remain playable for the foreseeable future.

On that date, Bungie will bundle all of Destiny 2’s expansions and content into a package called Destiny 2: The Collection, which will include every campaign, Dungeon Keys, the 30th Anniversary Pack, and additional materials. Standalone expansions and content packs will be offered at a reduced price in June.

“For nearly twelve years, we’ve had the privilege of exploring the Destiny universe with you. Throughout the highs and lows, building Destiny alongside you has been a remarkable journey. While our love for Destiny 2 hasn’t faded, it’s clear that it’s time for our worlds to advance beyond this title.”

The update, titled Monument of Triumph, aims to provide satisfying character conclusions and explore evolving themes within the Destiny narrative. Players will see the return of Legendary Marks earned through completing Triumphs that grant access to exclusive armor ornaments and other rewards. A new title and armor set will be available for those who undertake various challenges.

Other features include a revamped Director, a fresh Pantheon with new boss battles, an overhaul of the Portal, and the revival of the Sparrow Racing League. However, various seasonal events will be retired.

As Bungie shifts towards new projects, curiosity grows about potential future developments in the Destiny universe.
