Following recent announcements about the game, Arc System Works, in collaboration with Sony, conducted two closed beta tests for *Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls*. They’ve been collecting participant feedback to refine gameplay elements, evident from changes observed in the latest trailer.
A key concern raised by players involved how assist mechanics were integrated into combos and block strings, limiting distinct gameplay styles of individual fighters.
The new trailer showcases a significant improvement: fighters will now execute their standard assist actions during block strings and combos, reminiscent of *Marvel vs. Capcom* mechanics.
✅ NEUTRAL ASSISTS ARE NOW USABLE DURING COMBOS AND BLOCK STRINGS IN MARVEL TOKON???
PlayStation dropped a sorta “extended” look at the new character Behind The Scene portion of the State of Play.

Additionally, assist calls while airborne will revert to ground actions rather than executing aerial attacks, enhancing strategic options and enabling new mix-up opportunities during gameplay.
With these modifications, players can now maintain pressure on opponents more effectively by utilizing assists while airborne, facilitating grounded support without losing offensive momentum.
Previously in Tokon, when calling an assist while in mid-air, you would get an aerial assist, but it seems that has now changed. Iron Man does his ground Unibeam assist here, despite Danger calling him from mid-air. pic.twitter.com/uevNBu7bsS
The developers have also relaxed combo limits, resulting in a more fluid and creative combat experience for players. The cap now allows a total of 20 hits, increasing from the previous limit of 13.
Okay, so: I was watching the Tokon footage closely and I noticed the Combo Limit got significantly buffed.
It went from 13 hits total (10/3) to 20 hits total (15/5)
In addition, because of this change, assists now remove 4 hits instead of 2.
Upon wrapping up the closed beta sessions, developers sent out surveys to participants to gather insights on potential improvements for the game, and fan responses have made a significant impact.
In a recent statement, the director confirmed that player feedback has been instrumental in shaping the game’s development, emphasizing the incorporation of suggestions in upcoming updates.
“This trailer not only presents gameplay but also conveys our commitment to including feedback from the closed beta test,” he expressed, highlighting the dedication to player engagement in the design process.
