The New Sales Metrics of Capcom’s Fighting Franchise
As the gaming world faces various challenges, Capcom seems to be defying the odds with impressive sales figures.
The renowned publisher recently unveiled updates to their Platinum Titles list, showcasing a noticeable rise in the sales of several of their iconic fighting games. Insights from their latest financial presentation reveal that Street Fighter 6 has reached sales of 6.36 million copies by the close of 2025.
This achievement positions Street Fighter 6 as the 15th best-selling title in Capcom’s history, surpassing even the lasting legacy of Street Fighter 2—specifically in reference to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) version.
While the Street Fighter 2 franchise collectively boasts around 15 million console sales, Street Fighter 6 will need significant growth to close that gap.
In other developments, the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection has also seen an uptick, surpassing the one million mark last year and rising by an additional 100,000 sales, advancing from the 123rd to the 118th position on the sales chart.
Additional titles have experienced minor boosts as well, including Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, which added another 100,000 sales to reach 2.3 million. This resurgence could be attributed in part to the thriving modding community and projects like the UMvC3 Community Edition.
The Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection also reported a jump in numbers, moving from 3.7 million to 3.8 million. Interestingly, a newer installment, Capcom Fighting Collection 2, has yet to hit the one-million sales milestone, perhaps unsurprisingly given that it has only been available for approximately seven months.
Meanwhile, Street Fighter 5 is inching closer to the 8 million mark, currently sitting at 7.9 million copies sold, with Street Fighter 6 quickly gaining ground.
It’s encouraging to see Capcom’s fighting games experiencing this growth, and many fans hope this trend continues into the future.
